or another assignment given in class.
2. Homework will be written on the board under “La Tarea”. Copy down the assignment in your notebooks.
.
QUIZZES
1. We will have at least two quizzes per week.
2. If you are absent, it is your responsibility to see me about your missed work. If we
had a quiz while you were absent, if you do not see me to make it up, it will be a zero!!!
TEST
1. We will have tests at the end of every unit. This is graded out a possible 100 points.
2. If you are absent, you must see me to make it up or you will receive a zero!!!
3. At the end of each quarter we will have a PARTICIPATION GRADE. This will greatly affect your quarter grade!!!
MAKE-UPS (quizzes and tests)
Make-ups must be taken within 5 days of the date of the quiz/test. After 5 days, you can no longer make-up the quiz/test.
THE PARTY OF THE DAY (La fiesta del día). This is the after school detention session. Reminder: If you skip “La fiesta”, I will personally contact your parent or guardian.
WHO JOINS THE PARTY OF THE DAY: Any students who violate my 4 classroom rules:
a) No talking when I am talking. If you have a question, raise your hand.
b) No talking when a fellow student is giving an answer or asking a question
c) No put downs or name calling of any kind will be tolerated. You will respect each other.
d) ABSOLUTELY NO FOOLING AROUND: In other words, no running around the
classroom, no jumping on top of desks and especially, no throwing things around.
e) The World Languages Wing is a cellphone free zone. Students are expected to restrain from using cellphones in our classrooms.
LITERARY SHORT STORIES
1. For each Short Story we read, we will write an essay. The topic will go along with the plot of the story. This will be graded as 2 quizzes. (1 essay=2 quizzes) There are two parts of the essay:
a) EL BORRADOR (the rough draft) This will be due two nights after we go over the story in class. It must be approximately 1 page typed (double space, font 12). We will correct the essays in class in groups. You will make corrections and turn it in the next day. I will read and correct them for any mistakes and return them to you. The rough draft will be graded so be careful with spelling and grammar!!!
b) VERSION FINAL (final draft)You will re-write your “BORRADOR”, correcting all errors. This will be your final version and must be handed in the following day, typed and decorated. This version will also be graded.
2. No excuses will be accepted for late essays! This includes any computer errors!! Each day your essay is late, you will lose 10 points. The school has plenty of computers available for before and after school use. Don’t risk doing it on your computer at home if there may be a problem. Most important: Don’t risk doing it the morning that is due.
3. ONLINE TRANSLATORS: The use of online translators is unacceptable and prohibited by the Marblehead Foreign Language Department. The use of it for essays will result in two zeros and a VIP pass to the principal’s office. A phone call to your parents or guardians will be made by your teacher, department head or school principal. Remember: You are here to learn how to speak and write Spanish, online translators stop you from achieving these goals.
PARTICIPATION GRADE
At the end of each quarter you will evaluate your participation including on time to class, bringing class materials, oral participation and class behavior. I will compare your evaluation to mine and come up with a PARTICIPATION GRADE. This will have a great impact on your grade!!!
