"La Selecta" means the team. “Guanaco” is Spanish slang for citizens of El Salvador. Sometimes they are known as "Los cuzcatlecos". Cuzcatlecos because prior to the arrival of the Spaniards, El Salvador was known by its Mayan name "Cuzcatlan". So cuzcatlecos means citizens of Cuzcatlan

"El Tri" (the three colors of red, white and green). Also known as "Los aztecas". As you know, the great Aztec Empire ruled Mexico prior to the coming of Hernan Cortes.

Los chapines "The crickets". Chapines is a nickname for the citizens of Guatemala.
Honduras: Los catrachos
Catrachos is the nickname for the citizens of Honduras
Nicaragua: Los Pinoleros
Pinoleros is the nickname for the citizens of Nicaragua. Soccer is second in Nicaragua after baseball.
